This indulgent peanut butter milkshake comes together in a snap! It's only three ingredients and you might already have them! Peanut butter, milk, and vanilla ice cream make an easy but decadent shake.

Easy recipes are the best kind of recipes! And this peanut butter milkshake couldn't be easier. All you have to do is blend peanut butter, milk, and ice cream together for a creamy shake.

I was actually a bit shocked just how delicious this shake was. I thought I might need to add more sugar, maple syrup, or something to jazz it up. I should've known that peanut butter and vanilla ice cream could hold their own. I couldn't put this pb milkshake down!

    Ingredients

    ingredients for peanut butter milkshake

This homemade peanut butter milkshake calls for only 3 ingredients. You will need:

Peanut butter - Creamy peanut butter, of course!

Milk - I used whole milk, but reduced-fat or skim works too.

Ice cream - Vanilla ice cream sweetens the shake and makes it thick. Buy your favorite brand, but make sure it doesn't melt quickly. Some brands melt much faster than others.

How to Make a Peanut Butter Milkshake

Place all the ingredients into the blender.

    Variations

    • Toppings - Milkshakes are amazing, but toppings bring the magic. Add crushed peanuts, M&M's, Reese's pieces, chocolate chips, chocolate sauce, peanut butter sauce, sprinkles, granola, crushed cookies, or chocolate shavings.
    • Ice Cream Flavors - If you want to change it up, substitute vanilla ice cream with chocolate, pralines n' cream, butterscotch, cookies n' cream, caramel, or moose tracks.
    • Chocolate peanut butter milkshake - Add chocolate sauce or cocoa powder to the blender. Blend then taste for flavor. You can always add more, but you can't take any out. You can also use chocolate ice cream in place of vanilla.
    • Banana peanut butter milkshake - Blend a frozen banana cut into chunks with the milk and then add the ice cream and peanut butter. This way you won't have banana chunks in your shake.
    • Nutter butter milkshake - Add two nutter butter cookies to the recipe. Blend with the other ingredients. Top with crushed nutter butters!
    • Peanut butter ice cream shake - For an extra peanut buttery, indulgent shake, use peanut butter ice cream in place of vanilla.

    Recipe Tips

    • Don't overmix the milkshake! You want it nice and thick. It only needs a quick whir. It will melt if you blend it too long.
    • Double the recipe for a large milkshake. Milkshakes are already rich and sweet, but peanut butter takes it up a notch. For this reason, this recipe fills a small to medium size glass. If you want it big and grand, double the recipe.
    • Buy hard ice cream. Some ice cream brands are softer and melt quickly. For my milkshakes, I stick to brands that are harder. This way my milkshake stays nice and thick.

    FAQs

Can I make this recipe vegan?

Yes, for a vegan peanut butter milkshake use plant-based milk and vegan ice cream. I love almond milk for it's mild flavor and creamy texture.

Can I made this peanut butter shake ahead of time?

No, shakes are best served immediately! If you freeze them, they will harden and lose their creamy texture.
