This coffee smoothie is quick and delicious with an extra jolt of caffeine to wake you up! Coffee, chocolate, and banana are a match made in heaven.

Ah, coffee how I love thee. I could write poetry about it.
This frosty coffee smoothie is filling and lightly sweet with a chocolatey aftertaste. Feel free to add more honey if you like a sweeter coffee drink than I do. This mocha smoothie is a winner!
And it's much healthier than a Frappuccino from Starbucks (and cheaper too!). Win, win!
Ingredients 🍽️

- Cold coffee - You can use cold brew, drip, or espresso! Just make sure the coffee is chilled first. Warm coffee will melt your ingredients and make a thin smoothie. Be sure to use tasty, good-quality coffee. If the coffee tastes terrible, so will the smoothie!
- Whole milk - Adds protein and prevents it from getting bitter from too much coffee. Feel free to swap with a dairy-free alternative like almond or oat milk.
- Frozen banana - I used one large frozen banana! Just peel a banana, throw it in a bag, and freeze overnight. I like to cut it in half or chunks first so it's easier to blend.
- Cocoa powder - For a smooth and ultra-chocolatey flavor, use Dutch processed cocoa. It's less bitter with a deeper flavor than natural cocoa.
- Peanut butter - Trust me on this one! Peanut butter adds protein and an indulgent, creamy taste.
- Honey - For added sweetness! Feel free to swap it with maple syrup.
- Ice - Normally I don't add ice to smoothies, but I like the frosty texture with coffee! Just a few cubes should do it.
Instructions ☕
For the best consistency, I recommend a high-speed blender. I invested in a Vitamix and love it! It can blend anything into a super smooth texture. If you make smoothies often, it's worth the lofty price tag.
- Combine everything except honey in the blender. If you put the honey in first, it sticks to the bottom of the blender.
- Drizzle honey on top of the banana. This way, it won't sink to the bottom.
- Blend until smooth. Start your blender on low speed, then gradually increase the speed and blend until you get a smooth texture.
- Pour and serve immediately!
Top Tips 📋
- Freeze your banana the night before. Peel and cut it in half or chunks. Place the chunks in a bag and freeze. If you use a non-frozen banana, the consistency won't be right.
- Use a large, ripe banana. Bananas vary a lot in size. Mine was on the larger side. If yours is small, freeze 1 ½ bananas.
- If possible, use a high-speed blender. This will give you a creamy consistency. Even budget brands carry high-speed models.
- If you have a low-powered blender, cut the banana into chunks first. It's easier on the motor.
