You can make Panera's green passion smoothie at home! It's a refreshing blend of spinach, mango, and peaches. Even kids love this brightly colored smoothie.
Refreshing Green Smoothie:
I live for a refreshing green smoothie! And this one is picky-eater and kid-approved. White grape and passion fruit juice make it nice and sweet!
It tastes just like Panera's Green Passion Smoothie. I tasted them side by side to make sure.
It's cheaper to make Panera smoothies at home and this one's easy to customize. You can swap some of the juice with cold water to make it less sweet or swap the peaches with pineapple.
Essential Ingredients:
- Baby spinach - Baby greens are just as nutritious as mature greens, but they have softer leaves and a mellow flavor.
- Frozen peaches - I chose frozen peaches so it would taste just like Panera's! If you prefer pineapple, that works too!
- Frozen mango - I'm a huge fan of mango in smoothies! It creates a smooth texture, especially if you're not using a banana. It's also a rich source of immune-boosting vitamin C!
- Juice - I typically add less juice, but this is a copycat recipe so I used 100% juice to achieve the same taste as Panera's. Look for brands with no added sugar like Cere's Passion Fruit Juice Blend.
How to Make Panera's Green Passion Smoothie:
It's super simple!
For best results, use a high-speed blender like a Vitamix. High-speed blenders are built to pulverize frozen fruit and greens, so the end result is very smooth and not gritty!
- Add all the ingredients to the blender. I start with the greens, then the frozen ingredients. I add the liquid last because it sinks to the bottom no matter when you add it.
- Blend until smooth. I always start the blender on low speed to reduce stalling. Gradually increase the speed and blend until smooth. If the mixture isn't moving, add a splash of cold water.
- Enjoy immediately! Green smoothies are best enjoyed fresh and frosty!
Smoothie Pops:
Technically, you can store green smoothies in the refrigerator overnight. But I don't prefer to do this, since the smoothie melts and doesn't taste as good.
I prefer to make them into smoothie pops! Pour the green smoothie into popsicle molds, add popsicle sticks, and freeze overnight.
They're so refreshing and easier than making a whole new smoothie. They taste the best once they melt a bit.
What kind of juice should I use?
If you want this smoothie to taste just like Panera's, I highly recommend a mixture of white grape and passion fruit juice. Otherwise, you can use whatever juice you like! Apple, pineapple, or mango juice are great options too!
Look for juice blends that are 100% juice. Some juice blends have a lot of added sugar, like Welch's brand! For less sweetness, you can swap half the juice with cold water.
Variations & Swaps:
- Protein - My favorite way to add protein is a couple teaspoons of hemp hearts! Protein powder or nut butter are good options too.
- Greens - You can swap the baby spinach with baby kale!
- Juice - For less sweetness, swap half the juice with cold water.
- Avocado - Add a ¼ of a Hass avocado for some healthy and filling fat!
